John's 40th Birthday Bash

John's 40th birthday party was so much fun! Thanks to family, friends, and cooperative weather we pulled it off.

The party wasn't a surprise but I think John was surprised a few times during the night. Between the "You Rock John" cake, Roman's roast, and Venn's melodic tribute "Lusk Rocks," we all had lots of laughs and created some great new memories.

Here are a few highlights and my favorite pics of the night:
- Creating a cozy outdoor environment with white tents and lit colored paper lanterns

- Table center pieces. Lots of candles and flowers.
I had a lot of fun with these!

- The kids and I picked out 4-5 of our favorite "funny" pictures of John and voted on our favorite to put on his birthday cake. Of course the cake was white with white butter cream frosting - all of John's favorites (luckily the strawberry mouse filling passed the test).

- Votives in the bird bath surprisingly turned out to be a hit with the kids. They were entertained all night . . . I don't know how they didn't catch anything on fire!

- Love this picture because it captures the evening perfectly. Fun with family and friends!

Saturday Morning

I thought it might be fun to start a blog. I would love to stay connected with my extended family and friends and thought this might be a way. So I'm going to try this out for a while.

We woke up to a wet and dreary day - it is the Pacific Northwest! We get to watch Ryan play soccer in it - what fun!

John and Ryan are thinking about going Geocaching this afternoon with our neighbors Kevin and Reagan Ritzer. This picture is from our first geocache in January. That first experience was a lot of fun but a lot of walking for me. So John and Ryan have been enjoying it more that the rest of us.
